Oct 14, 2016

The Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC) is happy to announce the winners of local grants selected within the framework of the LINK project. An award meeting for the winners will take place in Kyiv, Ukraine, on October 20 and 21, 2016, as part of the REC Sustainable Investment Forum. The LINK grantees will have a chance to present their projects, network with key Ukrainian stakeholders, and initiate a working relationship with the LINK project team.

The grant selection process ran from May to October 2016 and the overall budget for the local grant scheme was EUR 100,000. Project proposals were accepted from registered CSOs in LINK partner regions (Ivano-Frankivsk, Poltava, Cherkasy and Zhytomyr) and LINK partner cities (Ivano-Frankivsk, Kosiv, Poltava, Cherkasy, Kaniv, Berdychiv and Lubny) that are working to promote environmental protection, energy efficiency and security, and sustainable development. Implementation of individual grants is due to start in January 2017 and will last up to 12 months.

An independent advisory board evaluated 12 full project proposals and selected five projects implementing priority actions on local energy security and environmental protection. The local grants are intended to help establish better cooperation with regional and local authorities with respect to energy security, energy saving, energy efficiency, renewable energy and sustainable development.
