On 10-11 July 2017, The Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC) in partnership with the Institute for Economics and Forecasting of Ukraine (IEF) will hold Workshop on Tools and Methodologies for Municipal Sustainable Energy Planning in Kyiv, Ukraine. The workshop will be organized in the framework of the REC’s project “Local Initiatives for Sustainable Ukraine – LINK”, supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Climate and Environment.
The main purpose of this workshop is to improve capacity of Ukrainian municipalities in using relevant energy planning tools for sustainable energy planning and smooth transition to a low carbon economy.
Two-day workshop will cover the topics of energy modelling and energy policy planning on a regional, municipal and national levels in Ukraine. In addition to this, Long-range Energy Alternatives Planning System (LEAP) and LEDS GP Energy Toolkit 2.0 will be presented to the delegates of Ukrainian municipalities. Participants will also join the discussions on challenges and opportunities of using tools for energy planning in municipalities, energy sector planning in cities with a focus on selected case studies, as well as the state of energy modelling in Ukraine.
The agenda of the workshop is specifically tailored for energy planning practitioners from Ukrainian municipalities and their associations, Ukrainian energy modelling experts, as well as experts and municipal energy experts from other countries.
Workshop is envisaged to improve energy planning capacities of Ukrainian local authorities via the use of relevant energy planning tools. At the same time, it will help to establish a network of energy planning tool developers, energy modelling experts and Ukrainian and international practitioners involved in energy planning at the municipal level.
